MINCA: WITH MINING CRISIS THEY ARE TRYING TO CHEAT CVG AUTHORITIES

Minera Las Cristinas (Minca) condemned the facts occurred south of Guayana, and accused inscrupulous individuals of taking advantage of the crisis of small miners in order not to comply with their commitments with Venezuelan Government. The position of the company was informed through the following press release:

Minera Las Cristinas (MINCA) wants to express its opinion about the lamentable events occurred during the last few days in the surroundings of Las Cristinas, and the protests by miners south of Guayana.

Minca takes a position due to this deplorable fact, since it is a company made up by the private sector and the Venezuelan Government to develop the most significant mining project in Latin America.

Minca absolutely rejects any event, action or word leading to violence or to non respect of human rights or of the private property. The company has acted according to law and to moral and social rules. Its directors see with concern how the interests of some individuals in a private company are taking advantage of this deplorable situation, and using regional media to confuse Minister Jacqueline Farías and Minister Victor Alvarez, in order to take the attention away from their non fulfilled commitments. Similarly, the crisis affecting this region is used as an opportunity by these inscrupulous individuals to try to neutralize Minca’s efforts made and to be made to solve any discrepancies to develop the concessions.

Minca ratifies its commitment with a sustainable development of mining, and respect for Law and for moral and social rules. Minca considers that dialogue is the best option to solve any differences.

Minca invites any sector interested in the sustainable development of Las Cristinas, notwithstanding any positions or discrepancies, to reject and to fight those who, through inscrupulous practices and manipulation of the public opinion seek to obtain benefits in Las Cristinas.
